He was predeceased by: his parents, Joseph and Agnes (Mischke); his wife Elaine T. Burggraff; his brother Wilfred; and his brother-in-law Duane Popp.

He is survived by: his children, Gary (Jodie) of St. Cloud, Mary Lou Landowski (Jay) of Cold Spring, Lori Frerich (Lowell) of Cold Spring and Greg (Carrie) of St. Augusta; his grandchildren, Ben, Katie, Joe, Wes, Colt, Gavin, Grayson and Griffin; his great grandchildren, Carter, Grace, Annie, Jennings, Gus, Madden, Jaydan, Brooks, Sophie, Sadie and Emmie; his siblings, Marylin Popp, Leander (Ellie), Roger and Celestine (Linda); and his sister-in-law Geraldine Gall.
