He was predeceased by: his parents, Lawrence Weiland and Verna Weiland of St. Bonifacius, MN.; and his sisters, Carol Weiland and Diane Weiland. He is survived by: his daughter Jenny; his wife Judy Weiland; his children, Shari Eischens (Mike), Peter Thayer (Erica), Michelle McLeland (Kent), Jen Gallus (Joe) and Chad Weiland (Amanda); and his siblings, Rose Jessen (Jim), Bill Weiland (Meredith), Joe Weiland and Laurie Turner (Mike). He is also survived by 18 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.

He donated blood as often as he could as serving others was important to him.
