He was predeceased by: his parents, John Gunther and Ida Gunther (Obermoller); and his siblings, Kenneth, Dorothy Wilkin, Evelyn Wilkin, Lucille Rosendahl, Gladys Loeschen and Rose Bixby.

He is survived by: his wife Darline Bretzman; his daughters, Lisa Rogers (Glenn) of Brewster and Deann Baumgard (Mike) of Brewster; his grandchildren, Tyler Rogers (Allison) of Rochester, Keith Rogers (Brittany) of Lakefield, Garet Rogers (Kylie Majerus) of Lakefield, Cole Baumgard (Brooke) of New Prague, Tanner Baumgard of Brewster and Sarah Broesder (Jacob) of Owatonna; his great grandchildren, Aeirlyn, Everett, Keagen, Kinley Rogers, Kellan and Vivian Baumgard; his brother Harlan Gunther (Vonnie) of Loveland, CO; and his brother-in-law Art Loeschen of Lakefield. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
