He was predeceased by: his parents, Andrew Scherer and Laura Scherer; and his brother Ralph. He is survived by: his wife Nola; his daughters, Mary Weber and Barbara Scherer; his grandchildren, Krista Huang (Eric), David Weber (Kaela Vogel), Elena and Yuri Johnson; and his great grandchild Leonard Huang. He is also survived by sisters-in-law, brother-in-law, nieces, nephew, former sons-in-law.

Memorials will be donated to the Alzheimer's Association and Animal Humane Society of MN.
