He was predeceased by: his parents, Robert Bohnen and Judith Bohnen (Fraber); his stepson Josh Childers; his father-in-law Ronald Winterhalter; and his godparents, Marge and Jim Hannah.

He is survived by: his wife Ann Winterhalter; his children, Katherine Simonson (Hans), Brett Bohnen and Daniel Bohnen; his stepson Jeremy Childers; his grandchildren, Bailee, Keegan and Sawyer; his siblings, Richard Bohnen (Brenda), Denise Bohnen (Kevin Westburg) and Timothy Bohnen (Cheryl); his aunt Sandy Ellingson; his mother-in-law Rose Winterhalter; and his siblings-in-law, Erwin Winterhalter (LuAnn), William Winterhalter (Melissa) and Angela Winterhalter (Kevin Dick). He is also survived by many other relatives and friends.
