She was predeceased by: her parents, Eddie Atkins and Curtis Mary Atkins (Jefferson); her husband Marshall "Bud" Barnes; her sons, Marshall Barnes and Larry Darnell Barnes; and her siblings, Mattie, Marie, Ora Lee, Mary Louise, Robert and Howard James.

She is survived by: her children, Brenda Pittman (Terry) of Indianapolis, IN, Anthony Bernard Barnes, Darryl Barnes (Aimee) of Eagan, MN and Lisa Blackson (Dashonda); and her siblings, Rose, Carolyn, Bernard and Cecil. She is also survived by 17 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great-grandchildren.

A memorial service was held on Friday, November 15th 2024 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at 1900 Ballington Blvd NW, Rochester, MN 55901.
