He was predeceased by: his parents, Harold Holmgren and Gladys Holmgren; his brother Doyle Holmgren; his mother-in-law Elizabeth Axmark; his siblings-in-law, Clarence Axmark and Maggie Meyer; and his grandson Damien Beck.
He is survived by: his wife Carmen Holmgren of Rochester, MN; his children, Stephanie Eddy (Wade) of Fergus Falls, MN, Chris Holmgren (Lindsay) of Moorhead, MN, Davina Holmgren (Derrius Sampson) of St. Augustine, FL, Daven Holmgren of Suwanee, GA, Lisa Hudson (Tony) of Rochester, MN and Michael Boggs (Susana) of Rochester, MN; and his siblings, Doug Holmgren (Deb) of Northfield, MN, Dale Holmgren (Jaci) of Plymouth, MN and Sheila Kugler (Ricky) of Fergus Falls, MN. He is also survived by fourteen grandchildren, four great grandchildren and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
When he retired in 2017, he missed the kiddos so much that he drove school bus until his Alzheimer's diagnosis.
