He was predeceased by: his wife Juanita; his son James; his granddaughter Elizabeth Clark; and his sisters, Eileen and Lillian (Addison Tanner).

He is survived by: his sons, Robert (Teresa), Rebecca Nelson (Brad Dahl) of Stewartville and Stephen (Karen) of Rochester. He is also survived by 29 grandchildren and 30 grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
