He was predeceased by: his parents, Olaf Hovda and Gladys Hovda; and his sister Roma Solberg. He is survived by: his former wife Judith Anne Erickson; his wife Judy; his children, David Hovda (Tracy) and Kari Schlachter (Scott); his grandchildren, Alison Anthony (John), Scott, Matthew Hovda, Sam, Sydney and Dylan Schlachter (Lizzie); and his brother David Hovda (Ann).
