He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Frank Gruber and Freda Gruber (Nietfeld); his wife Marilyn; his children, Lila Klein (Joe) of Richmond, Henry Gruber (Karen) of St. Cloud, Glenna Soenneker (Steve) of Clear Lake, Gary Gruber (Lori) of Alexandria, Marina Ostendorf (Keith) of Savage, Gene Gruber (Eva) of Richmond, Bob Gruber (Shelly) of Becker and Conrad Gruber (Sandra) of Spring Hill; his sisters, Agnes Kleve of Farmington and Lorraine Evans of Alaska; his son John; his sisters, Mary Ann Roering and Rose; and his brothers-in-law, Gerald Kleve and Alfred Roering. He was also cherished by 25 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren.
