He was predeceased by: his parents, Lester Smith and Olivia Smith; and his brothers, James Grote and LeRoy Smith. He is survived by: his wife Kathryn A. Berg (Eve); and his siblings, Elaine Millar of Fargo, ND, Ronald Smith of Bagley, MN, Lyle Smith (Sue) of Aberdeen, SD, Marilyn Prochnow (Jeff) of Casselton, ND, Dianne Haukland of Coon Rapids, MN, Douglas Smith (Rae) of Puposky, MN, Russell Smith (Terri) of Moorhead, MN and Colleen Lindgren (Douglas) of Bagley, MN. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
