It is with great sadness that we announce the death of George John Opatz of Rice, Minnesota, born in Holdingford, Minnesota, who passed away on January 6, 2023, at the age of 94, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, Philip Opatz and Theresa Opatz (Heitzman); his son Daniel Opatz; and his siblings, Rita Venske, Edward Opatz, Delores Newcomb, Lorraine Hoffman, Maryann Wilson, Leroy Opatz and Darlene Burski.
He is survived by: his wife Adella Kostreba of Rice; his children, Ambrose Opatz (Roseann) of Annandale, Robert Opatz (Sandra) of Avon, Cynthia Resseman (Wayne) of Avon, Jacalyn Opatz of Sartell and Jeffrey Opatz of Swanville; and his siblings, Lloyd Opatz of Avon, Judy Rossel of Waite Park, Jack Opatz (Jane) of St. Joseph, Eugene Opatz of Buffalo and William Opatz (Shirley). He is also survived by 14 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
