He was predeceased by: his parents, Clarence Kainz and Josephine Kainz (Zak); and his siblings, JoAnne Carlson (Len) and Clarence "Buz" Kainz. He is survived by: his wife Rita Bieganek of Rice; his children, Joseph (Jenny) of Hong Kong, Jon (Marlene) of Lino Lakes, Beth Wegner (John), Minneapolis and James (Kirsten) of Wilmington, NC; his sister-in-law Sue Kainz of Cottage Grove; and his grandchildren, Sabrina, Natalie, Jaq, Caleb, Rachel, Tyler, Ryan, Shannon, Nathan, Madeline (Davis) and Emma.

Memorials are preferred in lieu of flowers.
