He was predeceased by: his parents, Harold Hilbert and Delorias Hilbert (Knigge) of Redwood Falls. He is survived by: his former wife Jean Ann Hilbert (Snead); his children, Bret Snead Hilbert (Megan Breidegam) and Kimberly Hilbert Revie (Josh Buchheit); his grandchildren, Devin Revie, Nathan Bresnahan, Juliette Hilbert, Isabelle Hilbert, Micah Hilbert and Caleb Hilbert; his sisters, Shirley Hilbert Hansen of Willmar, MN, Joyce Larsen (Dan) of Blaine, MN and Donna Mae Roberts of Valley City, CA; and his nieces and nephews, Todd Hansen (Lori), Trisha Severson (Chad), Traci Auger (Russ), Tara O'Brien (Dan), Tina Bro (Eric), Keith Roberts (Laura) and Troy Roberts (Dawn).

He retired from State Farm due to Parkinson's Disease in 2006.
