He was predeceased by: his parents, George Carter and Margaret Carter (Weien). He is survived by: his wife Margaret Ann Thorkildson of Stephen, MN; his children, Bruce Carter of Red Wing and Brenda Carter (Adam Solomon) of New Haven, CT; his grandchildren, Senna, Caleb Carter Maertens and Myles Carter-Solomon; his sister Genevieve "Gaga" Lervik of Hibbing; and his pet Anni. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Memorials are preferred to Smile Train, St. Paul's Lutheran Church of Red Wing, Red Wing Public School Foundation, or donor's choice.
