He was predeceased by: his parents, Howard Thompson and Marion Thompson (Kolser); his siblings, Emmette and Ruth; his siblings-in-law, Larry and JoAnn; and also, Harry and Mabel.

He is survived by: his wife Shirley Thompson; his children, Deb Gagner and Jeff Thompson (Colleen) of Lynd, MN; his grandchildren, Aaron Gagner (Ashley), Grant Gagner (Ashley) of Fargo, ND, Kristin Hamre (JJ) of Beltrami, MN, Jill Thibert (Aaron), Jenna Davenport (Paul) of Madison, WI, Matthew Thompson of Lynd, MN, Zachary Thompson (Teegan) of Lynd, MN and Alexander Thompson of Lynd, MN; his great grandchildren, Aadin, Adley, Ames, Lainey, Brooks, Nora, Harper, Lucy, Jackson, Sawyer, William, Ava and Harvey; and his sister Doris Mykatowich of Winnipeg, Canada.. He is also survived by two children, 8 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.
