It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Vera Benzel (Prior Lake, Minnesota), born in Greenville, Wisconsin, who passed away on November 3, 2021, at the age of 102, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, Gilbert Thorson and Emma Thorson; her husband Jerry; her son-in-law Lowell Rieck; and her siblings, Earl, Arthur, Ervin, Elmer, Vernon, Gladys Pingel, Nellie Lloyd and Elaine Henry.
She is survived by: her children, David (Cynthia) of Groveland, FL and Ann Rieck of Prior Lake, MN; her grandchildren, Travis Rieck (Katy), Inver, Kyle Rieck (Brittany Scott) of Chaska, MN, Chris Rieck (Ellen) of Jordan, MN, Tarah Mikacich (Cobe) of Orlando, FL and Tyler Benzel (Katie) of Winter Park, FL; and her great grandchildren, Emma, Cameron Rieck, Inver Grove Heights and Hanna Rieck (Austin Even) of Waterloo, IA. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
Memorials may be given to the Benzel Family Scholarship Fund at Augsburg University, Lake Nokomis Lutheran Church or Shepherd of the Lake Lutheran Church.
