He is survived by: his wife Lucy; his children, Dan Schmitz (Deb), Marty Schmitz (Robin), Gary Schmitz (Janelle) and Jean Larson (Steve); his grandchildren, Dawn VanHaaften (Jeff), Kendal Schmitz, Haley Schmitz, David Schmitz, Jennifer Sonnenburg (Josh), Lauren Schmitz, Ellen Schmitz, Claire Schmitz, Jessica Larson and Jack Larson; his sibling Mary Jo Brunner (Rich); and his sister-in-law Stella Schmitz of Patty Schmitz. He is also survived by other relatives and friends.
