He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Earl James and Catherine Cates (Simpkins); his wife Patricia Arnold; his sons, Mark Cates (Cathie), Scott Cates (Mary Hennes), David Cates (Tonda) and Lance Cates (Marci); his grandchildren, Sheila (Tim), Tina (Scott), Monica (Kevin), Marsha (Phil), Elizabeth (Ben), Catherine (Randy), Jim, David (Jackie), Jess (Bea), Tasha (Garrett), Chantz (Cashlee), Trisha, Robert and Macayla (Tristen); his siblings, Kathe Schrader (Duke), Bill Cates and Larry Cates (Betty); his son Cory Cates; his siblings, Pete Ryan (Bud), Rosie Muelken (Spike) and Jack Cates (Arlene); and his sister-in-law Donna Cates. He was also cherished by The grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.
