He was predeceased by: his mother Emma Zeylamaker Schmidt; his wife Harriet Joyce Schmidt; his father Henry Schmidt; and his siblings, Bernice Idsinga (Pete), Arlene Vleiger (Nels), Florence Lichtenstein (Archie), Joan Johnson (Ray), Lloyd, Robert and Donald.
He is survived by: his children, Gary (Tammy Schmidt), Wanda (Steve Hourscht), Glenda Schmidt Kimpling of Ramsey, MN, Terry (Ruth Schmidt) and Kevin (Kim Schmidt); his grandchildren, Linnea, Darrin Lund, Kenneth, Mackenzie Hoffman, Dennis Hoffman, Carla, Brandon Jansen, Christy, Mark Dougherty, Stephanie, AJ Earleywine, Meghan, Josh Orness, Sarah, Jacob Gradén, Matthew, Hailey Schmidt, Jason, Breanna Schmidt, Amber, Cory Madrid, Kara, Blade Burch Jaimie and Nate Olson; his siblings, Roger Evan Schmidt (June) of South Weber, UT and Joy Bakker (Arnold) of Las Vegas, NV; and his sisters-in-law, Audrene Schmidt of Fullerton, CA and Becky Schmidt of Marysville, CA. He is also survived by fourteen great grandchildren.
