He was predeceased by: his parents, John Schmidt and Marie Schmidt (Brummer); his wives, Lorraine Loeffler and Grace Montcalm; his son Sheldon; his siblings, Alvin, Donald, Katherine and Rose Marie; and his great grandchild Harper.
He is survived by: his children, Karla Schendel (Jim) and John Schmidt (Mary); and his daughter-in-law Sue Schmidt. He is also survived by 7 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and a few great-great grandchildren.
