He was predeceased by: his parents, Joe Buland and Minnie Buland (Vold); his wife Marlis; and his brothers, Jay, Gene and Virgil.

He is survived by: his sons, Rod Buland (Ann) of Livonia and Mike Buland (Kathy) of Noblesville; his grandson Justin Buland (Emily); his great grandchildren, Evie, Rosie, Lauren Brinkman (Travis) and Erik Buland (Laura Beth); and also, Kolby, Crosby and Henry. He is also survived by three grandchildren and spouses.
