He was predeceased by: his parents, Lawrence Thies and Julia Thies (Sutherland); his wife Judy Jones; and his siblings, William Thies (Bill) and Mary Hargens.
He is survived by: his children, Terry Thies (Lisa) of Minnetonka, Jeffrey Thies (Jeanne Sadecki) of Chaska, Kimberly Mulder (Jonathan) of Katy, Shelly and Rolland (Marty); his grandchildren, Joshua Mulder, Maisey Wahlquist, Colin Thies, Cody Thies, Josie Wold, Rylie Wold and Marissa Wold; his great grandchildren, Charlotte, Tripp and Hattie; his siblings, Jim Thies (Dell) of Pipestone, Judy Jansen of Pipestone and Mark Thies (Diaine); his nieces, Anna and Angela; his nephew Paolo; and his siblings, Arias, Maria, Aparicio and Rhonda Scully.
