“I just learned today of Dave's death, & I'm so sorry for your loss. I'm deeply saddened by this news, & I hope you have been upheld by your family & friends over this past year. I'm sad for myself, too, as when we were just kids in junior high, we were friends, & even though we hadn't seen or heard from each other in decades, I'd think about the Sowden's from time to time, mostly if I'd been in Pipestone.
