He was predeceased by: his parents, Harvey Matthiesen and Mary Matthiesen (DeBates); and his sister Lynne DeRuyter. He is survived by: his children, Bryce Matthiesen (Erica) of Long Prairie, Bridget Benz (Jim) of Pipestone and Weston Matthiesen (Mandy) of Pipestone; his siblings, Dianne Lorenzen (Glenn) of Jasper and LeeAnne DeRuyter (Greg) of Okabena, Minnesota; his brother-in-law Bryan DeRuyter of Ruthton, Minnesota; his grandchildren, Brooke, Bree, Braeden, Jessie, Jade, Jackson, Jada, Junior, Kade and Kegan; and his great grandchildren, Boone, Riplee, Roree, Arden, Aiden, Ranger and River.
A funeral service was held on Friday, March 28th 2025 at 6:00 PM at the Jasper Memorial Hall (101 E Wall St, Jasper, MN 56144).
He loved nature and wildlife, spending hours bird watching and oftentimes donating to animal support organizations.
