He was predeceased by: his parents, Michael Smith and Mary Smith (Sadak). He is survived by: his wife Sylvia Schmitt (Sally) of Mary's Catholic Church; his children, Jennifer Blocker (Bruce) of Burnsville, MN, Laura Kinney (Patrick) of Ashland, WI, Charles Smith of San Antonio, TX and Stacey Rolling (Kenny) of Luverne, MN; his grandchildren, Brett, Benjamin Blocker, Anthony, Paul Smith, Henry and Kate Rolling; and also Ana Yanguez.
He exercised daily at the Ewert Recreation Center until Parkinson's slowed him down.
