He was predeceased by: his parents, Floyd Smith and Violet "Vi" Smith (Shamp); his brother Gregory; and his siblings-in-law, Sandy and Mike McCartney.
He is survived by: his wife Ruth Utsler; his daughters, Wendy Swenson (Charlie) and Sherry Smith (Pat); his grandchildren, Morgan Kepner (Ben), Kendall Swenson (Kaycee), Whitney Wagner (Jeremy), Brooke Swenson (Drew) and Hailee Swenson (Jake); his great grandchildren, James, Jaxon, Nora, Hazel, Adaline, Callan, Kyler, Will and Landon; his siblings, Tom Smith (Lynn), Teresa Chambers (John), Pat Smith, David Smith (Joan), Bill Smith (Connie), Shirley Forrey, Melissa Douglas (Jim) and Mary Roubal; and his brother-in-law Chuck Utsler (Melody). He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and countless friends.
