It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Daniel G. Long of Pillager, Minnesota, born in Minneapolis, Minnesota, who passed away on February 10, 2023, at the age of 91, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, Daniel Long and Eleanor Long (Partch); his children, Arlean Helmerick and Phillip; and his brothers, Tom and Dewey Litshiem.
He is survived by: his wife Patricia (Jones); his children, Gerry Frasier, Steven Long (Jane) and Michael Long (Sonja); his daughter-in-law Shelly Long; his stepdaughter Bonnie Arntson (Tim); his grandchildren, Emily Cooper, Josef Veihauser (Kristina), Beth Veihauser, Larry Frasier (Kesha), Tom Long, Tim Long, Shawn Long (Ellyssa), Christopher Long (Alissa), Elizabeth Brown, Adam Long, Taylor Long, Levi Long, Adie Klaverkamp, Kierha Long, Carin Long, Tristan Long, Preston Long, Teresa Randell, Tasha Owen, Daniel Arntson (Jamie) and Lindsey Kennedy (Kyle); and his sister Lois Ness (Ralph). He is also survived by 38 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.
He so enjoyed historical books and books on geography – and he wanted to pass his love of reading on to younger generations and donated many books to his grandchildren and great-grandchildren and the Pillager School Library.
