He was predeceased by: his parents, George Arends and Leona Arends (Brommenschenkel); his son Brian Edward; his brother Joseph; his sister-in-law Murial Arends; his sisters, Cecelia Schlick, Rose Klinck, Carol Arends, Mary (Pete Gagner) and Bernadette (Miles Sobolik); his siblings-in-law, Jim Hallberg, Charles Thom and Corrine Thom; and his parents-in-law, Carl and Erna Thom.
He is survived by: his wife Irene; his children, Mark Arends (Lou) of Gary, MN, David Arends (Stacy) of Perley, MN, Eric Arends (Jodi) of Shelly, MN, Ann Olson (Stephen) of West Fargo, ND and Bradley Arends (Becky) of Moorhead, MN; his grandchildren, Taliah (Wyatt), Grant, Rachel, Sarah Arends, Colton (Jessi), Steele Armstrong (Elle), Mataya, Emmersyn Arends, Owen, Megan Olson, Logan, Jordan and Isabelle Arends; his siblings, Harold Arends (Diane) of Otsego, MN, Donald Arends of Devils Lake, MN, Jack Arends (Sherry) of Dilworth, MN and Jan Hallberg of Battle Lake, MN; and his brothers-in-law, Charles Klinck of Edmonds, WA and Earl Schlick of Mahnomen, MN.. He is also survived by great grandchildren.
Visitation was held on Sunday, February 16th 2025 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the St. Joseph Catholic Church (405 E Thorpe Ave, Ada, MN 56510). A prayer was held on Sunday, February 16th 2025 at 7:00 PM at the same location. A Mass of Christian burial was held on Monday, February 17th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
Memorials are preferred to Hospice of the Red River Valley and St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
