He was predeceased by: his parents, John Swanson and Irene Swanson (Carlson); and his brother Gary Swanson. He is survived by: his wife Karen Wiegmann; his children, Jon M. Swanson (Lorrie) of Pennock, Melissa Sparks (Lee) of Rochester, Melanie Nelson (Ryan) of Willmar and Tim Swanson (Barb) of Raymond; and his grandchildren, Alaina, Jon R. Sawyer, Cora Swanson, Katelyn, Ella Draheim, Hunter, Harper Nelson, Tucker, Levi Swanson, Micheal and Madelynn Brockman.
