He is survived by: his mother Grace Carls (Sundt); his wife Arlene Carls; his daughters, Becky Spanier (Troy) and Katie Carls (Tim Kiser); his granddaughters, Brook Hoffman (Noel Jones) and Kayla Hoffman; and his sister Juanita Halverson (Donavon "Sooky").
