He was predeceased by: his parents, Donald McDonald and Louise McDonald (Bell); and his siblings, Jackie Dankert, Donna Jemtrud and Jim McDonald.

He is survived by: his wife Beth Martinson; his sons, Brett (Ashley) of Moorhead, MN and Logan of Pelican Rapids, MN; his granddaughter Ava McDonald; his siblings, Jeanette Glaesman (Rueben), Karen Rasmussen (Dennis), Gary McDonald (Deb) and Terri Larson (Jon); his sister-in-law Cindy Hart (Tim); his parents-in-law, Marv and Winnie Martinson; and his close friend Ron Glaesman (Tammy). He is also survived by other nieces and nephews.

Memorials preferred to be given to the Pelican Rapids High School Firemans Scholarship Fund or the Colorectal Cancer Alliance.
