He was predeceased by: his parents, William Hanenburg and Kathryn Hanenburg (Bouma); his siblings, Marlin, Jerome Hanenburg and Betty Droogsma; his siblings-in-law, John Ruis, Shirley Hanenburg and Melvin Droogsma; and his half-brother Enno Bouma.
He is survived by: his wife J. Lois Lubben; his children, Janice Broersma of Cedar Springs, MI, Jeff Hanenburg (Jan) of Milaca, Dawn Carey (Mark) of Belmont, MI and Kara Hanenburg of Troy, MI; his siblings, Sylvia Ruis of Milaca, Ed Hanenburg (Dorothy) of Milaca and Dort Brink (Doug) of Milaca; and his sister-in-law Lorraine Bouma. He is also survived by eight grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren.
