He is survived by: his former wife Carol Schmitt; his children, Donald Jr. (Megan), Angie (Ben Thelen) and Dale; his grandchildren, Carley, Owen, Olivia, Caleb Hemmesch, Jack, Madison and Eli Hemmesch; and his siblings, Alice Schaefer, Janet Schaefer (Donald) and Richard (Mary Ann). He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
