He was predeceased by: his parents, Asher Niemela and Sylvia Niemela (Pietila); his sister Vera; and his brother-in-law Harvey Wehmas. He is survived by: his wife Renee of Park Rapids; his children, Eric Niemela of Bemidji, MN and Tina of Sauk Rapids; his siblings, Joan Wehmas of Osage, MN, Hilda Niemela of Menahga, MN, Arnold Niemela (Dagmar) of Willow River, MN, Eugene Niemela of Menahga and James Niemela (Ann) of Brooklyn Park; and his brother-in-law Arnold Barlund of Osage, MN. He is also survived by many nieces, nephew, other relatives and friends.
