He was predeceased by: his parents, Oliver Rost and Agnes Rost (Sevald); his brother Oris Rost; and his siblings-in-law, Hazel Rost and David Rubenstein.
He is survived by: his wife Susan Kaufenberg; his children, Michelle Simmons (Michael), Douglas Rost (Cecelia) and Jennifer Zeltwanger (Eric); his grandchildren, Rochelle, Josephine Simmons, Oliver Rost, William, Henry and Amelia Zeltwanger; and his sister Shirley Rubenstein.
He enjoyed spending time at his farm near Winger, Minnesota, cutting and splitting wood, puttering and growing produce to donate to local food shelves.
