He was predeceased by: his parents, Betty Gainey and Raymond Gainey. He is survived by: his siblings, Mary Anne Wolesky (Jerry), Michael Gainey (Kathy), Kathleen Ihlenfeld (John), Patrick Gainey, Daniel Gainey (Anne), Timothy Gainey (Lori), Colleen Hougas and Raymond Gainey (Becky). He is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews and their children.
