He was predeceased by: his parents, Oliver Sayles and Greta Sayles (Bell); his wife Alice Sayles (Fitzner); his parents-in-law, Leonard and Marie Fitzner; his siblings, Roger, Donna, Coral and Beverly; his siblings-in-law, Don Fitzner, Dale Fitzner, Jim Loeschke and Patsy Fitzner; and his grandson Noah Sayles.

He is survived by: his children, Daniel Sayles (Casey) of Morris, MN, David Sayles (Lisa) of Clinton, MN, Brenda Zahrbock (Brent) of Ortonville, MN, Doug Sayles (Dianne) of Chaska, MN and Barb Goulet (Chris) of Morris, MN. He is also survived by 20 grandchildren; and 32 great-grandchildren.
