She was predeceased by: her parents, Alphonse Schmieg and Eva Schmieg (Mongold); her former husband Willard Karels; and her brother Clarence. She is survived by: her husband Clyde; her siblings, Rosie Shipe, Lawrence, Eugene and Leon; her niece Theresia Rieger; and her nephews, Jan, Elliott Shipe, Blake and Cory Schmieg.

A graveside service was held on Wednesday, November 20th 2024 at 10:30 AM at the St. Joseph's Catholic Church.
