It is with great sadness that we announce the death of George Gimmestad of Ortonville, Minnesota, born in Belview, Minnesota, who passed away on October 1, 2023, at the age of 96, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, Arthur Gimmestad and Ernestina Gimmestad (Dehnel); his wife Maryanne Hanson; his siblings, Melvin Gimmestad, Ernest Gimmestad, Ruth Anne Buerkle, Bertina Erdahl and Dorothy Hovland; and his parents-in-law, Henry and Anne Jane Hanson.
He is survived by: his children, Jane Hegge (Paul) of West Fargo, ND, Katherine Soboleski (Tim) of Chaska, MN and Henry Gimmestad (Sherri); his grandchildren, Robert G. Lopez of Fargo, ND, Colby Gimmestad (Kristen) of Derby, KS, Mikala Gimmestad of Watertown, SD, Alexa Soboleski of Baxter, MN and Nicole Soboleski of International Falls, MN; his great grandchild Clemete Lopez of Winnepeg, MB; his grandson Cyrus Lopez of Winnepeg, MB; and his sister-in-law Lujean Gimmestad. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
