She was predeceased by: her parents, Sam K. Wipf and Lydia Wipf (Tschetter); her former husband Howard Hewitt; her husband Lawrence Kern; her sisters, Ruby Kliensasser, Evelyn Maas, Susie Pulman, Anna Friesen, Katherine (John Wipf), Lorraine Kliensasser and Betty McBride; and her stepchildren, Betty Schotes, Janice Timm and Douglas Kern.

She is survived by: her brothers, Ferd Wipf of Huron, SD and Peter Wipf (Cheryl) of Nicholasville, KY; and her stepdaughters, Sally Johnson of Menahga, MN and Shirley Visser of Paynesville, MN. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.

The family encourages memorials in lieu of flowers.
