He was predeceased by: his parents, Harry Schroeder and Esther Schroeder; his sister Gladys Duehn (Don); and his brothers-in-law, Arnold Lueck and Jerry Raarup.

He is survived by: his wife Carol Nordby; his sons, Dean (Marj) and Dale (Lisa); his grandchildren, Rachel, Macius, Jacob and Colby; his daughter Jolene Bunting; his grandsons, Joshua and Jason; and his sister June Raarup. He is also survived by his nieces and nephews.
