Deb Ziegenhagen Obituary
Debra Ziegenhgen, age 69, of Olivia died Friday, December 3, 2021 at the Olivia Hospital, Olivia, MN. A memorial service will be held at a later date. Debra was born July 28, 1952 at Gaylord, MN, to Erwin and Viola (Rettmann) Remus. She was baptized and confirmed at St. John's Lutheran Church in Bismarck Township, rural Winthrop.
Deb graduated from Winthrop High School in 1970. On July 31, 1971 she was united in marriage to the love of her life Gary Ziegenhagen at St. John's Lutheran Church. They were blessed to share 50 years together, much of it in Morgan and Olivia. She enjoyed camping, fishing trips with Gary, cooking, and dancing, but her greatest passion was her garden.
She could talk forever about her flowers and vegetables she grew. Deb also liked having many cats for pets over the years. She also enjoyed viewing hummingbirds outside her window as well as feeding them. This enjoyment carried over into her decorating her home with many hummingbird adornments. Deb and Gary enjoyed traveling to various places.
Recently she even got to fulfill a lifelong dream of a hot air balloon flight followed by a trip to the Grand Canyon. Deb is survived by her husband Gary of Olivia; three brothers: Daris (Kathy) Remus of Glencoe, Kevin (Cindy) Remus of Hutchinson, and Bradley (Deb) Remus of Castle Rock, CO; five sisters: Gloria Remus of Sparks, NV, Sandra (Sylvan) Becker of Glencoe, Eldora Williams of St. Paul, Paula (Tony) Kachelmeier of Gibbon, Pam (Allen) Wendlandt of Arlington; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brother Arden Remus; brother-in-law Bill Williams; and nephew William Williams.
