Jeffrey Michael Schaefer was born January 24, 1960 in St. Paul, MN, the son of Alfred and Lucille (Haegle) Schaefer. He grew up in Inver Grove Heights, MN and graduated from Simley High School. Jeffrey met his future wife at St. Patrick's Church in Inver Grove Heights and on October 9, 1982 he was united in marriage to Lynn (LaForte) Schaefer at that very church.
Jeffrey worked as a custodian for School District 196. He also had a great passion for all things automotive, especially NASCAR racing, tractors and auto body repair. He enjoyed watching home improvement shows like "This Old House" and Bob Villa.
Family was everything to Jeffrey. Time spent with his wife was precious to him. He especially loved cooking for Lynn and when her health began to decline, Jeffrey retired to focus on her care. His children and five granddaughters were his delight and baking cookies with grandpa was a favorite event. Jeffrey also kept up with extended family, devoting time chatting away on the phone with them. His beloved pets were family to him, with each one holding a special place in his heart.
Jeffrey was preceded in death by his wife Lynn Schaefer; parents Alfred and Lucille Schaefer; father-in-law and mother-in-law Myron and Eleanore LaForte; brother-in-law Gerald Gagner.
Jeffrey is survived by his loving family: daughter Kathryn (Ben) Timlin; son Michael Schaefer; granddaughters Isabelle, Lucy, Amelia, Ellie, Penelope; sister and brother-in-law Debbie (Roger) Malz of Mankato; sister-in-law Debbie Gagner of St. Paul; brothers-in-law Joe (Randy) LaForte of Soudan, Steve LaForte of St. Paul; many nieces, nephews, family and friends whom Jeffrey wholly loved.
