He was predeceased by: his parents, Melvin Erickson and Gurty Erickson (Spelhaug); his son Darrin Erickson; his siblings, Dennis Erickson and Diane Taasevigen; his parents-in-law, Sam Sr. and Martha Whitehead; and his brother-in-law Sam Whitehead Jr..

He is survived by: his wife Doris Whitehead; his children, W. Dean Erickson Jr. (Amy) of Northfield and Dana Kuyper (John) of Northfield; his grandchildren, Kaitlyn Jaeckels (Matt), Darrin Kuyper and Ryan Kuyper; his great grandchildren, Ellie and Wyatt; and his siblings-in-law, Dianne Erickson, Mavis Whitehead and Norman Taasevigen. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
