He was predeceased by: his parent Dorry Gerdesmeier; and his brothers, John and Joe Gerdesmeier. He is survived by: his siblings, Frank Gerdesmeier (Gayle), Marie Mensing (Bruce) and Anne Gullickson (Rick). He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
