He was predeceased by: his parents, Romuald Ziegler and Zetta Ziegler (Hauble); his wife Marguerite Schumacher; and his granddaughter Teri Ascheman. He is survived by: his daughters, Melissa Ascheman (Greg) of Faribault, Wendy Annexstad (Jeff) of Faribault and Amy Nugent (Shawn) of Faribault; his grandchildren, Travis Nugent (Kayla) of Faribault, Ryan Nugent (Hannah) of Faribault and Rachel Ascheman (Justin Smith) of Willoughby, OH; and his siblings, Michael, Anne Marie, Linda, Mary, Mark and Susan. He is also survived by great grandchildren.
