He is survived by: his children, Carol, Ruth Jahn (Eric), Paul (Daisy), Stephen, Andrew, Joel Petersen (Carol), Brent (Marlene), Meg, Aaron (Rebecca), Lisa Preus (Christian), David (Chellsea), Timothy, Jenny Schultz (Nik), Thomas Petersen (Joann), Benjamin (Wendy), Lindsey Di Steffano (Mark), Brian (Jen), Philip Petersen, Tillman Petersen, Jenna Mueller, Jacob Mueller, Kristen Macintosh (Kevin), Natalie and Turner; his great grandchildren, Benson, Meg, Lily, Reid, David, Abraham, Christine, Martha, Mary, Isaac, Alice, Norman, Ella, Clayton, Ava, Aubrianna, Olivia, Joseph and Brody; and also Carol Petersen. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
In his waning years he suffered from Alzheimer's.
