We bid farewell to James N. Schmitz of North Mankato, Minnesota, whose journey of life gracefully concluded on February 16, 2025 at the age of 97. James touched countless lives with warmth and kindness, leaving behind cherished memories that will forever echo in hearts. He was predeceased by: his parents, Joseph Schmitz and Clara Schmitz (Dorn); his sisters, Gladys, Clarice and Joan; and his daughter-in-law Patty Pfeilsticker-Schmitz.
He is survived by: his wife Rosemary Laven Schmitz; his children, Joe Schmitz, Jim Jr. Schmitz of North Mankato, Kay Keller (Ron) of Faribault, Ken Schmitz (Lorena) of Mankato, Julie Larson (Andrew) of Saint Paul, Kristyn Hewitt (Steve) of Mound, Joan Andersen (Steve) of Texas and Jerry (Sarah) of Minnetrista; his grandchildren, John (Becky), Matt (Sarah), Peter (Mary), Katie, Karl (Sami), DJ Keller and Anne Halbur (Rick); and his children, Kristine, Susan Andersen, Luke, Lizzie, Will, Eva Larson, Ross (Erin), Jack (Kelsey), Grace, Gretchen Hewitt, Jillian, Eli and Oliver Schmitz. He is also survived by 23 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, February 22nd 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:30 AM at the St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church (423 W 7th St, Mankato, MN 56001). A funeral service will be held on Saturday, February 22nd 2025 at 11:30 AM at the same location.
