He was predeceased by: his parents, Arthur Hanel and Erna Hanel (Blatterman); his former wife Carol Kratzke; his son Philip; his brother Jamie Hanel; and his parents-in-law, Ray and Selma Kratzke.
He is survived by: his wife Vivian Born; his children, Seth Hanel (Nichole), Matthew Hanel (Julie), Ty Hanel, Molly Reyes and Elizabeth Hutchins (Ken); his brothers, Daniel Hanel (Ann) and David Hanel (Marlene); and his sister-in-law Willa Hanel. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
